Harper Field are pleased to be offering something truly magical in their next auction -the lifetime collection of the late John Maylin MMC, better know as May Ling or Mayling the magician.
John Maylin was born in Evesham in 1930, moved to Blockley soon after and lived there for the rest of his life.
Mr Maylin enjoyed being involved in every aspect of the community, was chairman of Blockley Parish Council for 16 years and vice chairman for 12 years, governor at Blockley School and a volunteer guide at Snowshill Manor for 28 years.
He was well loved locally , and in 2010 was awarded a lifetime achievement award from the Heritage Society along with being honoured by having the local library named in his honour.
In 1997 he was invited to Buckingham Palace for a garden party where he met the Queen and the late Diana Princess of Wales.
However, most people will know him best as Mayling the Magician, member of The Magic Circle since 1948 (64 years in total) and regular performer of magic around the Cotswolds.
His lifetime collection of magic trick props are being sold at Harper Field on the 12th October, an opportunity for magic fans everywhere to purchase a real piece of history.
