Banknotes can range from a 300 year-old provincial English note to a more modern holiday note, and collectors are interested for many different reasons. English provincial notes which covered most local towns including Stroud, Cheltenham and Gloucester are always popular, as are Bank of England notes including the much talked about ‘white fiver’, but as ever the condition is key - one in very much above average condition always makes a substantial premium no matter the note.
Many notes from around the world were produced for short periods of time or in a denomination so high that most people would never even see one, let alone hope to have one in their possession, and a 1911 Indian banknote, in less than perfect condition recently made £2,800 at Harper Field.
